Yesterday, my kid came home from school clearly upset about something. I asked the usual, “How was your day?” and got the dreaded, “Fine.” But I could tell it wasn’t fine. There was hesitation, a little too much silence, and that unmistakable feeling that something was being held back. I didn’t want to push too hard, so I just let them know I was there whenever they wanted to talk.

And then it hit me, how often do I do the exact same thing? How many times have I swallowed my words, told someone I was “fine” when I wasn’t, or hesitated to share something real because I wasn’t sure how it would be received? It’s funny how, no matter how old we get, that fear of opening up can still creep in.

Whether it’s a tough conversation with a partner, a friend, or even admitting something to ourselves, the fear of being misunderstood or vulnerable never fully disappears.

The Moon in Gemini is reminding me that communication isn’t about having the perfect words, it’s about being willing to share, to be heard, and to listen in return. Maybe my kid wasn’t ready to talk yesterday, but when they are, I’ll be here. And maybe it’s time I take my own advice and stop holding back the things I need to say, too.
